Scheduled dog walks:
Hug-a-Dog Pet Care provides scheduled midday walks and as-needed walks upon request. If you spend many hours away from home, a midday walk might be just what your dog needs to break the loneliness and boredom of being home alone all day.
- Midday walks are scheduled between 11:30am-2:00pm.
- We will do our best to target your preferred dog-walking time and work within that routine for your dog.
Hug-a-Dog Pet Care takes pride in our ability to work with last-minute special requests. Many of our clients find themselves unexpectedly working late, delayed by some other emergency, or simply seeking a leisurely dinner out after work.
Give us a call and we’ll take your pet out for his late afternoon walk and feed him his dinner. Our flexible and responsive service provides peace of mind, knowing that your pets are in good care.
Doggie daycare and overnights at Camp Hug-a-Dog:
We welcome a limited number of dogs (under 40lbs) into our home (Camp Hug-a-Dog) for daytime care and overnight stays. “Campers” live with us in our home and are treated as members of our pack, receiving the attention and love that can only be provided in a home setting. Dogs must be pre-screened and introduced to the pack at Hug-a-Dog. Dogs must meet strict health and vaccination requirements, be neutered or spayed, and present generally good obedience and doggie-to-doggie behavior. Call our Top Dog to discuss in further detail.
House-watching:
Don’t have a pet but are still uncomfortable about leaving your house vacant while you are away? Hug-a-Dog Pet Care offers reliable, comprehensive and attentive house-watching service.
You could give your key to the teenager next door—and he will most likely succeed in taking in your mail and newspapers during your absence. But will he also double-check all doors and windows on a daily basis? Take out your trash and recycling and remember to bring the cans back in? Turn lights on and off as appropriate? Most importantly, can you count on him to prepare your home for a weather emergency or hurricane warning? Wouldn’t you rather have an insured and bonded professional taking responsibility for your home?
Hug-a-Dog Pet Care goes above and beyond when it comes to keeping watch over your house. We have taken in patio furniture when severe weather threatens, secured children’s bicycles left unattended in yards, cleared walks and entries of storm debris to present a lived-in look, cleaned refrigerators of rotting food, and much more.
We know what it takes to oversee a house. We take care of yours as if it were our own. So hire the services of a professional—someone who will keep an eye out and bring much-needed peace of mind while you’re away from home.

POLICIES
Scheduling, cancellations and refunds:
Our number one goal at Hug-a-Dog Pet Care is to meet the needs of you and your pet in as timely and personalized way as possible. That’s why our clients know they can call us on a moment’s notice to add a walk, ask for weekend pet sitting, or take in a “camper” for an overnight stay and Hug-a-Dog Pet Care will do everything possible to accommodate your request. While we do not charge a premium service fee for last-minute requests, we ask our clients to respect the following guidelines in the event of cancellations.
Midday walks – cancellation with less than four hour notice – no refund.
Pet-sitting while you are from home – early return: If you return home early, you must notify us immediately. If, however, you do not notify Hug-a-Dog Pet Care of an early return and we make a trip and find you at home, the regular per visit charge applies.
Overnights at Camp Hug-a-Dog – early return – no refund. Please understand that in accommodating your pet, we have turned away others due to the high demand for stays at Camp Hug-a-Dog.
Holiday cancellation of reservations at Camp Hug-a-Dog (boarding):
Your 50% deposit will be refunded if cancellation is received more than fourteen days prior to boarding arrival date. The deposit is forfeited if cancellation is received less than fourteen days prior to arrival date.
Holiday cancellation (dog walking and pet-sitting):
With the exception of severe weather, life-threatening emergencies or a death in the family, any cancellations prior to a major holiday (listed above) received with less than 72-hours notice will result in 50% of the total invoice for scheduled pet care to be paid. We request your understanding that holiday travel is a peak service time for Hug-a-Dog Pet Care.
Keys:
Client is required to provide a copy of house key at the time of the introductory visit. Take advantage of our “Safe and Sound” key program—Hug-a-Dog Pet Care will maintain your key on file for future visits, lock-outs and any other special needs which might arise. You may request return of your key at any time. If you choose not to have Hug-a-Dog Pet Care retain a key, picking up and returning your keys requires two extra trips and there will be a $15.00 charge per trip. It is the policy of Hug-a-Dog Pet Care to never leave keys locked in a client’s home pending their return.
